That seems like an interesting concept - emphasizing the first sounds. My boys would go for that! I wonder if they have it in Spanish...

Hi Jenny, I love reviews and thanks for taking the time with them.

In light of this review, I'm wondering if you have any comments about the recent study finding that the Baby Einstein series actually impedes language development in children?

It was covered pretty heavily in the fall when the research findings came out. And Disney, the producers of the Baby Einstein series has been trying to force researchers at the University of Washington to revoke the study.

The findings, in a nutshell are this... children 8-16 months of age who watched the videos for at least one hour per day knew 6-8 FEWER words than other children their age (here's the Boston Globe article).

The odd thing is 32% of American children under the age of three watch these video even though the American Academy of Pediatrics have recommended that a child under the age of two should have NO TV exposure at all (overview of study's findings).

Anyhow, I know this is a touchy and controversial subject. Just wondering your thoughts on the matter.

And why I'm up on these studies...I have three kids four and under and we've done a ton of research on the effects of 'screen-time' (computers too) on kids under 7.

If you'd like to chat about this, feel free to contact me through my website (in the link above).
